I know, I really do feel horrible about not updating. I... am working on a few other fics (none of which are getting finished nearly fast enough D: ) but as soon as I have time (i.e., after I finish writing the three papers due this month), I really do want to catch up on the latest Naruto manga and get inspired to update.

... and after this conversation, I actually did write like 200 words of the next chapter of RotJ. I'm just having planning problems with Gaara's part, you see. I know what I'm writing with Naruto, but I need to have Gaara depose his father, and have Chiyo elected as Kazekage... and I'm not sure how yet. D: Any ideas?

You can't really have Gaara point out that the Kazekage is too reckless and that he kind of throws away the lives of his subordinates.

Perhaps you can get into something like, the Kazekage is deliberately ignoring ways to make Suna more prosperous. Ignoring new greenhouse techniques and keeping more than a few oasis' in the desert secret, maybe even burying them-- basically forcing the village not to grow and expand.

(You can justify this by saying that the bigger the country gets, the more lax the shinobi would grow, and that the more amount of ninja and influx to the village, the more and more the Kazekage would need help to govern. And then suddenly it wouldn't be one village under one Kazekage's control, It would fall into place where the Kazekage would be little more than a figure head and the village is ruled by a bigger council.)

Democracy = bad, basically.

This would piss them off, naturally.

You can also go the other route more often used (or even combine it with this one right above) and have him be stealing money and putting it into his own account or even worse, find out that he's funneling monies to other nations. (Lets say Gato right now, as an example, and his opium.)

Or, perhaps, you could go the really weird and mind-fucky way and have Gaara twist his uncle into exacting his rage from Gaara-- who isn't at fault for his sister's death, to the Kazekage, who plotted the whole ordeal. You don't even have to explain it all-- make it a fun mystery for the fic. Lol!
